7th grade- Tuesday- Reading test on poetry selections. (see guide below) Wednesday- Vocabulary quiz Latin roots

Poetic Terms ( know definitions) : narratives, lyric, ballads, stanza, concrete poetry, and Haiku
understand the difference between rhythm and rhyme, refrain
Poems:
Ballad- Lochinvar- be able to answer comprehensive questions about the poem and be able to interpret lines the meaning of the lines. Know the mood of the poem as well as the mood of the characters
Narrative- The Cremation of Sam McGee- Be able to answer comprehensive questions about the poem. Know the mood of the characters
Lyric poetry- Lyric poetry gets its name from "lyre"
Concrete poetry- "Seal" understand the purpose of a concrete poem, interpret the poem, answer comprehensive questions about the poem.
"Pasture"- understand the punctuation in "Pasture" and know what to do when you come to a comma, and end punctuation
Rhythm and Rhyme- "Martin Luther King", and "Annabel Lee"
