Big week ahead as we start new chpaters and wrap up others. I am going to post tests and quizzes coming up this week. It will look like a lot but remember we have been working on a lot of this already

6th grade-

  • Begin chapter 4- we will explore the world of genetics and DNA. Inherited traits, engine, genes, recessive and dominant genes, etc... tomorrow we will begin reading lesson 5 and discussing the vocabuary terms. Homework for tonight is to define the terms for lesson 5
  • Homework for Tuesday- Complete the outline from lesson 5
  • Wednesday- note taking on the specifics from the lesson
  • Thursday- Create DNA chains and gingerbread people
  • Friday- Vocabulary quiz for lesson 5

7th grade-

  • Wednesday- 1st draft of compare/contrast paper is due- 2 pages hand written double spaced.
  • Thursday- Grammar Test- appositives, direct objects, indirect objects, subject complements
  • Friday- The Giver quiz- chapters 7-16

8th grade- vocab quiz tomorrow. read chapters 7-9 and answer questions. Diocese paper was DUE TODAY!! hope you turned it in.

Study Guide Chapter 3 (use your books and notes to focus on the following)

I. Cell Structure

· Compare the functions and structures of plant and animal cells

· 6 activities of living things- Nutrition respiration excretion response and movement & growth reproduction

· Be able to trace the organization of living things from cells to systems

Ex. Similar cells make up tissue, different tissue make up organs, etc…

· Identify the following cell organelles and know their functions:

Cell membrane cell wall Nucleus nuclear membrane

II. Cellular processes

· Understand and be able to explain:

Know the similarities and differences between the two (look in your notes)

6th grade

  • vocabulary for lesson 2 ( only focus on the words I gave today)

7th grade

  • The Giver- click on webquest link in right-hand side of blog; click on history and complete as I showed you today
  • research for paper due tomorrow. You can print out the info and bring in to read; you can bring in notes you have jotted down; you can bring in books, magazines, etc. You need some type of material that you can review and are able to begin separtaing similarities from the differences.
